Did You Hear That?

I always get a kick out of commissions where the client actually wants to tell a story, and this one absolutely had a story baked into it from the jump.

The vibe here was pure horror-movie goodness: the unsuspecting final girl alone at her campsite, minding her own business, when somewhere out in the dark a branch snaps and suddenly it's time to start making some very poor life choices. Great setup!

My job was to walk that fine line between alluring and suspenseful. A lot of that came down to framing her within the trees, letting those dark silhouettes close in around her, and balancing the warm glow of the campfire against the cool moonlight bouncing through the woods. Basically: make it spooky, make it sexy, and try not to let one completely wreck the other.

Oh, and the client specifically requested plenty of trunk. Ha! I mean, if you're setting a pinup in the woods, I suppose you might as well commit to the trees.

Super fun project. Equal parts cheesecake and chainsaw bait.
