Batgirl (motion pin-up)

A year ago, I sketched out a concept of DC Comics' Batgirl just for fun. And since then, I had gradually become more and more inspired to see it in motion. When Procreate revealed its new animation tools, that was my cue to get to work.
My intention was to complete the entirety of the animation with in Procreate. Unfortunately, due to layer limitations, I simply couldn't do that. Instead, I animated the hair and cape in their own file to save on layers used by the character and backgrounds, and composited everything in After Effects.
Hands down, the most challenging part of this process was animating the hair in a way that felt fluid but didn't break the style I was going for. I'm pleased with the results and I'm so proud of the work here. It was so much fun!

I wanted to try a slightly level-bumped version of this with an offset in the back from the foreground.

Animated, "motion pin-up" version.
Aside from the "Ace Chemicals" sign, all of the assets were created almost entirely in Procreate. I used a combo of Photoshop and After Effects to composite all the pieces together.
