Filicity

This one went through a LOT of revisions, reinterpretations, and re-re-re-do's before I finally got it where I wanted it. Let me explain.

I honestly REALLY loved the initial sketch. There was something peaceful and effortless about the reclined pose that, for whatever reason, I just couldn't seem to recapture once I brought it into Procreate. So I revised. And revised. And revised some more.

Eventually, it occurred to me that leaving her isolated wasn't doing the piece any favors. Enter the beach scene! Of course, putting her in the ocean meant considering how the environment would actually affect her, right down to the damp hair. And the more I tinkered, the more I realized that what this piece really needed was a nearly complete rethinking of the composition.

That ultimately led to the final image you see here.

As frustrating as the process could be, I learned a lot about planning, pushing an idea further, and making sure all the elements of an illustration work together to tell a cohesive story. What started as a bit of a creative headache ultimately became one of my proudest pieces of pinup art. Funny how that works!
